There is always a special something about a “live”, on-the-spot jazz recording that no studio recording can quite match: the excitement of talented musicians caught in actual performance, reacting on and to an audience. This album, recorded on a swinging night at the Club Bohemia, in the heart of New York’s colorful Greenwich Village, has this special quality. It features the exciting piano of one of the biggest (six-and-a half-feet, and all musician) jazz men, Randy Weston, and the richly swinging baritone sax of Cecil Payne.
