Started to work in Record Changer invited through Bill Grauer in 1948 to write about Thelonious Monk in the magazine.
RCA (Record Company of America) requested Bill and Orrin to make reissued album from stocked unissued tracks. They made about 40 albums (10”), but RCA finally decided to sell “X” label themselves. This label included historical recordings of ODJB – the first jazz recording in 1917. The Grauer and Orrin decided to make jazz records their own label “Riverside” - at the office of Record Changer in 125 La Salla St. in New York in 1953.
