About This album –

This album is all about swinging – the hard-driving kind, with plenty of room for stretching-out on solos. The two groups represented here are full of men noted for their ability to punch out this kind of jazz. The principal connecting link is the presence on all seven tracks of Kenny Dorham, who has starred with Max Roach, with the Jazz Messengers, and on his own, an his acknowledged as one of today’s top trumpet men. There’s also fine blowing from the great Count Basie tenor, Frank Foster; from one of the funkiest of piano players, Kenny Drew; and the rest.
